Open Tying Session - Bring Your Vise and Supplies
Time to Tie and Share New Patterns

The Upper St. Clair Fly Fishing Club was established in March of 2002 as part of the Community Foundation of Upper St. Clair's Recreation Committee.

First year's events included fishing outings to both Yellow Creek Anglers in Indiana, Pennsylvania and to Beaver Creek Anglers near Nemacolin Resort, as well as a clinic on fly fishing basics.

In June of 2003, a casting clinic at Cannonsburg Lake was attended by approximately twenty people. This event was followed by fishing outings to the Youghiogheny River in August and to Neshannock Creek in Volant in October. Our first monthly membership meeting was held in October at the USC Municipal Building.

2004 witnessed a continuation of the monthly membership meetings. An outing for our members, featuring both overnight accomodations and day-fishing on Yellow Creek, took place April 24-26. Another weekend trip to fish the limestone waters of Carlisle, Pennsylvania and to tie flies and fish with the legendary Ed Shenk occurred in August. Our members participated in still another outing, this one to the steelhead creeks in the Erie, area at the end of October.

Activities during the Spring of 2005 included continued educational monthly meetings; a March steelhead outing to fish the Lake Erie tributaries, our first annual Community Fly Fishing Expo at the Township Recreation Center on April 2nd and participation in State Senator Pippy's "Family Fun Fest" in May. While rain forced an early season day-trip to Oil Creek in April to be rescheduled and then ultimately cancelled, a weekend trip to Linn Run in search of native mountain trout in May took place in spite of threatening weather; more than forty club and family members enjoyed our First Annual Family Picnic at the Beinhauer family's farm in Scenery Hill in June and an outing to the Yough in July turned up some lovely brown trout. Monthly meetings resumed in September; members fished the Beinhauer's farm ponds on a blustery day in late October and our die hard steelheaders returned to the Lake Erie tribs in November.
